Quick water pump question

I just replaced the impeller i

I just replaced the impeller in the water pump but I didn't pay attention to the two hoses connected to the water pump housing. Is the bottom connection for water in and the top is for water out?

"I assume you have a belt driven water pump, right?
I think you will find that the upper connection is the suction, and the lower connection is the discharge on these pumps.

"Hey Rod, thx for the responce... Yes it is belt driven. I ended up using the bottom for the inlet and top for discharg. I am getting great water flow... If it is connected wrong would there still be a good water flow or a flow at all?

No, it would pump backwards if connected wrong.. So I guess you have the style that is suction below the discharge. I did not know there was two styles. What year is it? Mine was on a 2007 6.2 Mpi.
