is there a way to test these and make sure there working without pulling the exhaust and doing it physically..
 
you can check the flappers wit

you can check the flappers without removing the axhaust manifolds and risers. you will need to loosen 16 hoseclamps (8 on each side). If you push the y-pipe rubber down until it clears the down pipe you can usualy twist off the down pipe. with it out of the way the flappers are right there. I usealy use an electric screw (nut) driver to do my hoseclamps. and some silicone spray to make the rubbers move easly.

"Not really, but for peace of mind its not that hard to pull the down elbows and take a looksee.
Its all just hose clamps to undo.
Hint: reassembly goes much easier with soapy water on the rubber and metal surfaces.
