"I want to replace the o ring on lower side of the fule line that runs from the pump up to the carb, it appears that you have to replace the entire line, is this the case, what about replacing it with a stainless flex line ?

"Mine looks a bit different, the b-nut down at the pump has a thick o-ring, both ends of the fuel line are flared so I think you have to replace the whole line."

I'm w/Bt. Doctor; Rube Goldberg fix!

Cut the "O" ring off and match it to a replacement ring at an auto parts center that carries them in a box to select from. Grease it w/vaseline and slip it over.
 
Changed my recommendation; CHA

Changed my recommendation; CHANGE the line since it is a "FIRE HAZARD". I always clean the threads and use a small drop of oil on the threads when fitting fuel lines.
