"Heres the story. Twin 1996 V115 Yamahas. No problems ever with oil injection system. Ran about 25 miles out and port engine alarm sounds. Pull the cowling and notice the small oil resevoir on the engine is
at the minimum mark. I try the switch next to the resevoir and nothing. We take a spare fuel line and manualy transfer oil and fill the resevoir up. We figure oil pump in port engines resevoir has failed. We start
up and run another 10 miles then the starboard engine does the same. We are finding it hard to believe that both pumps have failed. We manually transfer oil and finish the day. Later we were thinking the
problem through and came up with this. Ok we had a pump fail. Then it gets weird. Our theory is that the electrical connection for the sending units on the port and starboard motors to the resevoir pumps are
reversed. When we manually filled the port motors resevoir, it's sensors saw a full tank and stopped pumping oil, thereby stopping oil from going to the starboard motor. It is possible that since both motors
burn almost identical amounts of oil, that they have been wired like this since day one, and only now that one pump failed, has the problem manifested itself. What do you guys think, am I on the right track?
Whats the best way to replace the pump in the resevoir?"
