Put wrong fluid in drive unit

"Mercruiser 5.7 L alpha model-

"Mercruiser 5.7 L alpha model-I stupidly "topped off" the drive unit oil with power trim and steering fluid! Besides flushing it and putting in fresh drive unit oil, is there anything else I should do?
I realized it today when it jumped out of gear!"

Keep an eye on the level espec

Keep an eye on the level especially if you don't have a reservior. I assume you fill from the drain hole until it comes out the vent--the proper technique.

there is a reservoir and I did fill it as you've desribed. do you think i've damaged anything with the power steering and trim fluid? should i replace and flush the new oil more than once?

"Since you put it in the reservior, it did not reach the gears IF the reservior was not empty.

If it did get into the OD and mixed w/the gear oil it should not have hurt it if the quantity was small; under 8 ounces. I think you are ok."
