"Am rebuilding a 1973, 6v53 from bottom up. Block is excellent, crank fits like a glove.
Problem is play in the cam. Measurements are: Cam Bore 2.375 (on speck), Cam 2.182 (on speck), Cam Bearing 2.189.
Gap is .007. Speck calls for .004 to .006. Too much play from my limited perspective. Can actually "feel" play when cam is inserted into the bearings.
Have tried two sets of bearings with same result.
Question: Is this too much play? If so, what can I do about it?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated."
