Can anyone tell me if a 5.7 is

Can anyone tell me if a 5.7 is a direct replacement for a 5.0 in a 1998 mercrusier year. Also is there much involved in changing from a carb to MPI? Thanks for any info.....Darrell

"If you're referring to mounts, yes. It's the same block with different deck height and stroke. You would need the intake/injectors, ECM, MAP, TPS, knock sensor, IAC, the right distributor or crank wheel so the ECM gets RPM info, and the ECM needs the right calibration program. You also need the MPI motor harness. The calibration for a small boat will be completely wrong for a big boat, and vice versa."
