Stupid 4 barrel question

I have a stupid question.... but I need to find out the answer. To save some dignaty... In a previous life I was a motocross guy and understand things with 2 wheels better than keels.

Anyway when I look down the throat of my 4 barrel carb... the back two "ports" appear to have a black plastic cover over them? At the bottom of the round area... about 1 1/2" down I see black plastic that has a cross hatch pattern in the plastic? Is this covering my 4 barrel making my boat a 2 barrel? The boat is a Four Winns Santera 215 230HP 305 Alpha One 5.0L

Are you sure the cross hatch is not milled into the surface of the secondary butterflies?
Try looking down while someone opens the throttle completely. All butterflies should open fully. You will need all 4 barrels to get 230 hp out of a carbed 305.

Just a Guess,....
The 1st 1, at the top is the throttle butterfly plates,....
And,..
The cross-hatched piece is the Intake Manifold Floor....."
