"I have just bought my first 4-stroke outboard, and I have had different advice regarding the break-in. Some say that I should stick to the manual, while others say that I should use it as normal, without hitting the lowest and highest rpm´s. Is there any mechanic out there who could give me the correct advice"
 
I had a F115 I bought in 02 an

I had a F115 I bought in 02 and the dealer open the manual and made a big X on the breakin page. He said to run it hard to insure the rings get seated. I had it 5 years and it never gave me a minutes trouble. Also it never made any oil meaning the rings were seated properly.
