"long time lurker first time poster... 2003 40hp 2 stroke... i have a bit of a rough idle and just slightly off idle but after that runs fine with no problems... lots of power(for a 40) and no bogging down....new plugs,seafoam in every tank and fogged down every season....plugs looked a little oily,kind of like what comes out of any 2 stroke motor i have...a little carboned up..
almost seems like a miss..i'm mechanically inclined but not familier with the newer boat motors..

"yes, the plugs are new and double checked the gap..the plugs are oem....thinking of trying another set...i have picked up many bad out of the box ngk plugs...years ago for dirt bikes.."

would you happen to know the settings for the adjustment screws? any help is greatly appreiciated..

"You just can't change it like that!

Its has 3 carbs, they have to be sync, with a vaccum mate or eqv, the bloody think cost 500$ plus. you just have rough idle, no major carbs issues. Take it to a dealer, they have the right tool, should not cost you too much."
