Thunderbolt 5 ignition sensor

"Just picked up an ignition sensor for the distributor on my 5.0 Mercruiser. It has 3 wires old one has 2 both have the white with red and green stripes I know where they go. But, there is a black wire with a ring terminal on it. I believe it is a ground wire, but nt sure. Part number is a Sierra 1-5116-1. Thanks in advance Dean"
 
Your old sensor was grounded t

Your old sensor was grounded through the long screw with the nut on the bottom. ground the new wire at the nut and old ground wire. Your dist should have had a ground wire attached to the long screw and nut on the bottom of the dist.
