Engine surging between 2000 3200 rpm 50 220hp mercrusier

I posted yesterday about 1998

I posted yesterday about 1998 2 barrel carb 220 hp mercruiser 5.0L surging. I went home and tried the following still have the problem. It idle prefect but has a surge between 2000 - 3200 rpm or thats when its most noticable. HELP !

- cleaned the air intake
- run a cycle of carb cleaner
- checked all the hoses leading to the carb
- check and made sure the inline fuel screen was clean where the fuel enters the engine
- made sure all plug wire were tight

"Did you try cleaner (sea foam) in fuel for a tank of fuel? Sounds like it's starving for fuel
and the carb jets are prob. the culprit.
Best to get rebuild kit and go into carb. I use B12 chemtool to soak carb pieces and then use shop air to blast dry and shoot through all ports and jets. Don't use needle or anything that may damage jets. Don't use kits float instructions to set float level, use service manual specs. Fuel tarnish is a killer!
