This is my first post on this site. How is everyone doing.
I am looking at a 1999 Yamaha 75hp outboard for 1500 with controls. The engine is in good condition with clean paint, good compression, no water or shavings in lower unit, idles well, pees well, etc. However, it does have a Trim/Tilt that leaks down slowly.
While I was there I checked the T/T system for external leaks and there weren't any. Then I made sure the fluid was full, bled the system. and tightened down the manual release. After doing so the symptoms were better but the engine continued to fall slowly (about an inch an hour).
So here is my question. Is the engine still worth the price. The guy wont come down at all so thats pretty much where I am at. Moreover, has anyone ever tried putting ATF conditioner/stop leak in the T/T system to clean and lubricate the valves and seals. It worked well in my transmission so maybe it will work here.
