how much power will a alpha 1

how much power will a alpha 1 outdrive handle w.o giving alot of problems? also when i turn my boat hard i hear a roaring from the back of it is tht a sign that i need to change the gimb bearing?
 
as for the power I think it al

as for the power I think it almost 300 ponies as for the gimbal it might be but there are alot of thing that could do that but most likely the universal joint doing it.. that said with out knowing exactly what noise your hearing just going by the When I turn hard thing....

"If yours is an Alpha One (not Gen II) they have a weak link at the top of the vertical shaft; an O ring groove. This will limit you to something less than 300 hp; likely about 270 to be safe.
The Gen II's did away with this O ring and can handle more. As jeff says, with discretion you can get away with 350 hp or so.
This means no jackrabbit starts.
