"Hey guys, after replacing the outdrive impeller, thermostat, taking the entire manifold system down,($100 just in gaskets) the eng. still overheated. A flapper was found destroyed, the other in good condition. The decision was made to run the engine with the one flapper in place and the thermostat removed(pulling the engine is an off season only proposition(for the flapper)(several weekends were lost exploring the overheating problems and potential loss for the rest of Summer). The boat is only run in Summer(at least 85 degree water, 90 plus air temps) Boat runs cool and as it should(now and as it always did). I understand these are big no-no's. Considering resolutions to these issues would cost more than the value of the boat(probably)(a 1981 Sea Ray 207 in need of paint and an interior)(but runs and provides great family fun). We will run it until it blows up(if ever). Scrapping the boat is always an option. I hope these thought processes can help someone."
