"Just got my pertronix kit and flamethrower for my aq130c. The old coil was 1.5 to be used with external resistor. I have followed the wire back as much as I can see and don't see a resistor. this is a 1969 boat, did they use resistor wire back then? how would I know if it is resistor wire?. If someone put on a 1.5 coil without resistor would it have worked?

"The old coil was for the points. Just install the new coil and ignition and adjust the timing. I would run a ground wire from the block to the distributor, also."
 
"Just make sure you have a str

"Just make sure you have a straight run of wire from the ignition key switch to the + of the coil. You should then have 12V between the + of the coil and ground when you turn the key on. If you get say 9V, then you may have resistor wire installed."
 
my 1964 volvo penta has a litt

my 1964 volvo penta has a little metal box on the engine - the resistor is inside the box... not sure if 1969 would be the same
