"The numbers have rusted off the front timing plate on my 1987 Crusader 350/270HP Right Hand rotation. The metal plate does have notches and pointers --just missing the numbers. Does anybody know the exact location on the plate for 10 degrees BTC? Right now, I have it set at the middle of the lowest notch. Is this correct, or should it be set to the point of the lowest pointer?

I would use an adjust

I would use an adjustable advance timing light. Set the dial at 10 degrees, then simply line your timing marks at "0". This is the only way to be sure you are where you belong."

lowest notch is 0 degrees. most crusaders have timing marks on flywheel. remove large rubber plug on top of flywheel housing (if it's still there) and check it there.

"You should be able to time this engine with a light from the front or rear. On mine, I believe there is a seam on the flywheel which times to the edge of the stainless steel plate added to the belhousing by Crusader."
