" I have a 79 Chris w/350ci closed cooling engines(2). After running the engines and shutting down I notice a small slick coming from the exhaust pipes. The longer and harder the engines were run,the longer the slick lasts before disipating. Both engines have 650hrs & are in good running cond. They don't use oil so I feel this must be unburned fuel.Any ideas?? "

" Claus C,

Look at the exhaust to see if the slick is coming from both manifolds or maybe only one side of the engines have the problem. Pull the spark plugs check if they are wet with fuel or oil. This should let you know what cylinder or cylinders may be giving you the trouble.

How long have you had the boat and did the problem just start happening?

Let me know how you make out,

" I have the same problem with my '84 Cruisers w/454s - runs great, 590 hours, but it leaves a slick. Last fall, I noticed some oily foam in one of the manifolds. I'm going to recheck the plugs, but last I checked they were dry. Could it be something else?
