My MD7A ran toward the hot sid

My MD7A ran toward the hot side of the temp. meter last yr. Now after new oil; fuel; and all filters it runs cold. Temp. meter does not even get to green. Any suggestions what may be the reason? Can engine be run this way?
 
Have ordered a new thermostat

Have ordered a new thermostat kit and small o-ring for the housing. Will check both old and new when parts come. Again can engine be ran this cold? Exaust water flow out transome has considerably increased.

"The engine may be used, but with low engine temp the combustion gets bad and black smoke will encrease. Using it to long in this condition the rings may carobinise and you may build up a lot of soot in the engine and exhaust system."
