tHIS ENGINE IS IN A LONGLINER

tHIS ENGINE IS IN A LONGLINER FISHING VESSEL AND HAS DONE 5000 HOURS. tHE MANIFOLD AND EXHAUST IS GETTING EXCESSIVELY HOT. PROBLEM HAS SUDDENLY DEVELOPED. WHERE SHOULD TECHNICIANS START LOOKING. IT SEEMS TO HAVE A MISFIRE AT HIGHER REVS WITH A HINT OF BLACK SMOKE.
CAN ANYBODY HELP .

The engine is keelcooled and is running at normal temp. It is only the manifold and exhaust pipe which is getting excessively hot. So much so that the combing on the boat caught alight.
The turbo seems fine.The electronic system on the control panel is not detecting any fault but we are awaiting the proper diagnostic electronic box to plug in and test engine further.
Could it be faulty injectors ?
I am not sure about these electronic injection systems.

sounds like a retriction in water flow to manfold or high back pressure in exhaust.
