Looking at a 1989 19' Bayl

Looking at a 1989 19' Bayliner ski boat with a 2.3 L Ford motor. Anybody know anything about this motor? What HP would it be? Are they any good? Thanks. JW

"run away - no fans of that 2.3 Ford in aboat..you can go to the omc forum and read lots of horror stories about how crappy this was as a boat motor....gutless and very noisy in a 19' and the OMC Cobra drive is not the best choice for beginning into boating- OMC sterndrives out of business since 1993 and parts for that cobra, although mostly still available are very expensive. Buy Mercruiser for a first i/o boat."

"Thanks, HY, just looking at a picture in Craigs and I "assumed" it was a Mercruiser outdrive. He didn't say and I hadn't asked, yet - that was to be my next question. I have a 19 Bayliner cuddy with a Mercruiser 470 but the Grandkids keep pushing for an open-bow, so I was just looking. Thanks for tipping me off. Love this site! JW"
