"Hey guys,
I have been shimming my starter on my Sea Ray GM engine trying to get the right combination.What would cause the nose cone on my starter to break off? Is the starter to close or to far away
from the flywheel?"

You Shouldn't

"Ayuh,...

You Shouldn't need Any shims,... At All....
But,...
It's possible that you need the Forward-end Support Bracket that bolts to the side of the block on the forward end of the Starter...."
