"I have replaced 3 starters under warrenty on my
5.7. They work for around a month and then the starter gear will not engage with the flywheel.
I don't know what is causing this and the dealer
has no suggestions,they just keep sending another starter. The starter gear will spin but the gear will not engage. After I keep trying it will finally work but I know it is not helping the teeth on the flywheel or the starter.It finally grinds a few times and then engages.I have tried greasing the shaft well with marine grease but nothing seems to help. These starters are hard to get to and not much fun to replace.
