Replacing shift cable bellows on a alpha one

well this is why the bilge are

well this is why the bilge area fills up with water so what do i have to take loose the lower shift cable to get the bellows on any tricks ???

"First, don't skimp and replace all bellows and seeing your going to be into it check and plan on replacing the gimble bearing. also a really good time to change water pump impeller.

You can change just the shift cable bellows by
raising drive to limit and carefully pulling shift cable through stern. (do not kink cable!!!) And replace bellows. The black cable end and threaded portion at carb is easily removed to facilitate fitting through stern.
Also a forum search would have shown this.
Be sure to use bellows adheasive, and new hose clamps.

"Do like Kirt says and change all them while you are there. Where the shift cable goes through the transom, there is a plastic wrap that has to come off. If you don't take it off the cable will not pass out of transom.

"prior to pulling the cable through the transom, be sure to tape a string on it to use as a fish on the way back through. There is a very specific routing of that cable and getting it routed wrong cable bad and cause shifting/melting issues if you don't go around the exhaust the right way. Plus the string will help you get the cable in from inside the boat"
