"I have a 1987 Donzi with Alpha 1 outdrive, it has some steering slop. The dealer tells me that It is very dangerous to use in this condition and I need a new Gimbal Ring, a $2500 repair. Someone told me to try tightening the two bolts at the top first. I did a search and have gotten VERY conflicting info, some say change bolts to higher strenth and tighten as much as possiable, some say NEVER Tighten those bolts.... Any Advice?"
