What type of oil should be used in the hydrolic trim pum? Thanks for your time and answers.
 
What year is the pump and what

What year is the pump and what is in it now? Older units used 30 wt. engine oil or mercruiser hydraulic oil. Modern units use Dextron auto. trans. fluid.

"Thanks I think it takes 20w motor oil, It is in a mercruiser MR series the pump is very old and I believe it may have a seal leak in the bottom of the pump."

They'll run just Fine with any oil resembling ATF, up thru to about 40W....

Any heavier oil,+ they labor to much on the low pressure side...."

been told by two different expert marine mechanics and the master service manual to use 5W-30 motor oil in the pump.
