Question on Merc Control cable

On the cable that controls for

On the cable that controls forward and reverse from the shifter to the top of the engine ... Is there any tricks to be aware of or problems than can occur. I would think you would move everything to the neutrual postion measure the cable ends and make sure you have the same measurement on each end and install ??

Oh that isn't very clear i am replacing the old one the plastic end broke off so i bought a new one

Ayuh,....
Tape the end of the New 1 to the Old 1,+ use it to pull it through.....

If you buy 1 of the same length,...
It'll be adjustable to meet the spec...
Depending on which Control you have, neutral should be a good reference point, or forward, or reverse...."
