1990 Johnson 40 hp cooling question problem

I just recently purchased me a

I just recently purchased me a 1990 Johnson 40 hp outboard and the water has quit peeing out of the pee hole. I have replaced the impeller and the thermostat but it still wont pee. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas that I might be overlooking? I am using a hose pipe and the ear muffs for a water supply. Should this set up be ok? I dont want to tear anything up or burn the engine up. Thank you for any help.

"Thank you jwb, I got me a peice of wire and kept runnung it in and out of the hose till the water finally ran out like it used to. Took about 15 minutes of running the wire, I never felt any clogging or blockages of any sorts. Anyhow it is peeing again. Thanks again!"
