I have a 77 120 mercury boat a

I have a 77 120 mercury boat and 120/140 outdrive I was looking for a good used lower unit and I dont know what series or year will fit.Can any one help me thanks philr

"drop yours and count the splines,
8 is a early Series1 unit, 12-13 is late type .any late type will fit
Series 1,R,RM,Alpha
GEN II drive will not work."
