Oil leaking out of air cleaner

I have a detroit 671 that has

I have a detroit 671 that has rather high oil consumption in the port engine(as compared to the starboard engine). I noticed that after a warm up run last weekend that oil had been leaking out of the air cleaner. Any comments on what the problem would be is appreciated.

If I need to replace the oil seals on the blower is that a tough job? Both these engines are original 1977 with about 2500hrs, so the starboard is not far behind and I'd probably need to do both."

IT IS A {VERY HARD JOB} AND NEEDS TO BE DONE BUY A MACH THAT HAS THE RIGHT TOOLS AND SKILLS.
