30L wonbt start without throttle canbt maintain low speed

"I have a 1994 3.0L.

2 cond

"I have a 1994 3.0L.

2 conditions: I have to apply throttle to start every time,not just cold.

Also, once the engine has run and is up to temp, it has problems running at idle and just in gear. It starts to knock and eventually dies. Any recommendations for starters?

"Carb choke not working, needs

"Carb choke not working, needs a tuneup, stale fuel, carb needs rebuilt. Start w/new spark plugs--color of used plugs should be tan to light brown. If dark or black w/soot; carb and choke needs work. Oily plugs; needs valve guide oil seals or rings if the engine belches blue smoke. White plugs; carb is set too lean."
