"Hello all,just bought 1984 Marquis thats been very well taken care of.engine runs great and takes off great.the problem is starting off wot,like taking off with skier/wake board,the engine will bogg down or cut off,start out slow no problem.any suggestions for the new kid on the block? thanks"

"accelerator pump may be inop. Plugs may be worn,
timing should be checked and verify it's advancing. If you are unsure of history a full tune up is in order.

I had the same problem. We fixed the timing to what it should be and voila. it is back to normal...

"My '88 3.0L is doing the same thing. I can bring it up to full throttle smoothly if I do it gradually.

If I jump from idle to WOT suddenly (as when pulling up a skiier), it bogs badly and will stall if I don't throttle back quickly enough.

Everything I've read and everyone I've talked to points to the accelerator pump in the carburetor. As soon as I'm done with my bellows replacement, that's the first thing I'm digging into."
