"THE OIL PUMP ON MY 5.7 MERCRUISER IS LEAKING BARELY FROM THE BOTTOM, BUT I SEE NO VISIBLE DAMAGE. ALSO WHEN I TURN EACH WAY AND BOTTOM OUT THE TURN THE ACTUAL PUMP DRIVE AND BELT STOP TURNING. EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING. QUESTION IS SINCE ITS A GM CRATE 350 CAN I JUST GO TO ANY AUTO PARTS STORE AND PICK ONE UP..."

"check the return line on back of resivoir. and
get a new belt as yours is most likely dry, and or glazed. When you force against the stop you are generating severe pressures and engage bypass valve, and should be avoided. those siganal pumps are tough though.
you can get them at auto stores with or without
resivoir.
