Trying to diagnose this problem. I have a 71C mounted in front of a Walter v-drive. When I run at 3000+ rpm for a few minutes a high pitched howl starts to emulate from the engine room. It goes away if I drop down to idle and then I can drive away with no noise for a few minutes again. Shows up at the higher rpms. or maybe its there but I can't hear it as well because I am running from the bridge and its just not loud enough for me to hear over the exhaust. . Boat shifts well in all gears There is no loss of performance in the drive system on that side. No feel of a slip. Just a high pitched noise.
