"I have a purple wire and purple\white wire coming from my kill switch that isn't connected to anything, so my kill switch doesn't work. I looked in the manual and I can't find where they need to be connected. Looks like the last owner wasn't too worried about safety.

This is in a 98 Monterey 242 cruiser, with a 5.0 mercruiser with Thunderbolt ignition and an alpha 1 outdrive

Any help would be appreciated."

The kill switch is normally wired in series into the purple wire connected to the I terminal on your key switch.
The I terminal is the main engine power wire and is hot when the key is On.
The kill switch has to be in the RUN position for there to be power to anything else.
