"1976 mercruiser ford 351 233 hp inboard engines, one has been hard to start, once started would run fine, until yesterday when it shut down after running about a hour. Would not restart, took a a few attempts to resartwith some breaks in between, then the engine fired, just to have it shut down soon after that, then the same results to get it to fire up again. Do you think the cap, rotor and points are the problem? Any ideas ,, temp is about 155, oil pressure running 40#, and plugs looked good, gettting gas, new fuel water separator filter"

Coil or condenser breakdown fr

Coil or condenser breakdown from heat and age. What is the current point gap? Replace points & condenser and reset timing. Change coil if new points don't help.

safety measures to keep from igniting fuel vapors. Yes they are different but not always
