I have a 4.3L that boggs down

I have a 4.3L that boggs down when throttle up quickly it also started knocking and will not go above 3000rpm at full throttle

"What year and carb? Perform the basics; tuneup, change ALL fuel filters, check timing, verify accellerator pump is functioning. What oil and weight & filter are you using? What temp. is it running?"
 
Just bought the boat. Overheat

Just bought the boat. Overheated to 200F on first test run replaced the impellar and temp is now 150F when running. Gas tank was full when I bought it and it had not been used since last year. What I'm wondering is can the old gas be the cause of the power loss and knocking?

Put 2 cans of SEAFOAM in the tank. It will help remove any gum and varnish buildup over the last year.

"I would pull the oil filter and cut it apart to look for metal particles.
If you find anything major (meaning anything more than a few tiny flecks), I would tear it down before you completely trash it.
