"I have a new 9.8 HP 4 Stroke with electric start/charging system. From time to time I will have a need to put the motor on a small boat without a battery. Will I harm the charging system if the motor is not hooked up to a battery? I will make sure the cables do not touch or are covered, and can even remove the cables at the engine if the use is for more than a ride or two. But, can it hurt the charging system???"
