"I recently replaced my 3.8L e

"I recently replaced my 3.8L engine to a 350. everything is going well other than the distributor connections. The cap has 3 wires coming out and they go into the connection at the top of the cap (to the coil I assume) My biggest question is there's the wire connection that's labeled on the cap that says "batt". Does that connect directly to the battery or should it run through some ignition switch. I'm not an engine genius (it's amazing that I've gotten this far!!!) Any help would be great. thanks, Jeff"

"IF that is a ballast resistor

"IF that is a ballast resistor type ignition system, the "batt" connection will be hot only during starting. Many older starter motor solenoids had a connection there to send all 12 volts to the distributor during starting. In run, the voltage is reduced to around 9 volts through the ballast resistor.

The other Jeff
