1977 OMC Electric Shift Wonbt Go

Have an electric shift outdriv

Have an electric shift outdrive on 77 formula and boat seems to go into gear but runs as if prop has spun a hub. Have checked hub and it doesn't appear to have spun a hub. Have installed a newer prop but before boat is put back in the water(don't have on trailer) wondered if there were any other connection in the lower unit that would have problems similar to a bad prop

"I would spin the prop by hand, while u have it in gear to see if u can. If the prop spins then it could be a strip water pump shaft. When was the last time u replace ur water pump. On mine boat the water pump shaft was about to let go, so I went ahead and replace it."
