I have a blown '63 318. I am haveing the worst time trying to find a 1963 engine. I have found plenty of 1967 or newer. Will the newer engine mount up to my velvet drive tranny and bell-housing? I am hearing yes and no's - is there anyone that knows the correct answer?

Don't know--that was a rad

Don't know--that was a radically different mill. Suggest you try some Mopar websites (like SlantSix).

"FYI...
The following is from my auto Mopar Performance Engine book indicates the "Old Style" 1956 to 1966 engines, 277 - 301 - 318 are "A" engines. The newer LA engines are 273 - 318 - 340 - 360 which are also termed "A" engines.
The book also states "the bellhousing bolt pattern on the rear of the block is the same on all A engines". It does not mention anything of the crank shaft flange bolt circle or starter location.
Very few engine parts are interchangable between the two engine styles.
