"Seems as though I might have a starter going away. Solenoid just clicks, 10-12 tries later, starter spins but doesn't engage. 10-12 times of this, and the thing starts. Anyone hear of this?
Also been told it may be the starter slave solenoid on top of the motor."

"You were told correctly. This will be easy to test. Just jump the solenoid terminals while someone tries to crank the engine, If there is no change, the slave is not the problem. Before you tear this thing apart, do yourself a favor and check all of the electrical connections relevant to the starting system. This includes all battery cables and engine ground cables as well as the main engine connector and ignition switch wires. You may just save yourself some time and money.
