"Has anyone had any experience adapting a small diesel engine to an outboard lower end using a hydrostatic pump & motor system? Would like to discuss options. Have a 10hp air cooled diesel & lower end of an 8hp evinrude. Thanks, Dick"

Sounds like an interesting project is there a practical application you are trying to achieve?

So how did you plan on mountin

So how did you plan on mounting the lower unit to the sail boat or would a thru hull shaft be a cleaner install with some sort of a hydromechanical transmission. Finding the right parts might be impossible. Finding something close that would have to be seriously modified and machined is more likely. Hmmmm Maybe mounting the lower unit through the bottom of the boat with a sealed gasket would work with the shaft sticking up through the hull depending on the interior design of the boat. With that arrangement you could use pulleys or hydromechanical transmission. This would be a one of a kind design. Am I going in the wrong direction or is that something you have considered??????
