Correct Carb Jets

"I have a 1977 Evinrude 75hp.I rebuilt the engine myself. It runs great but seems that I am not getting everything at 5500 WOT. I am not sure if the jets in the carbs are correct b-cause according to the BRP Catalog, I have a newer carb than a 1977, somewhere in the 80s. The numbers 326929 are stamped on each carb but I cannot find these numbers in any book. I am not the original owner. I also rebuilt the carbs and messed up the jets trying to remove them. I replaced them with with jets for a 1982 Evinrude carb. Anybody have any ideas?"

1977 75hp = 320921 = 55D

1982 75hp = 318684 = 56D"

"Try a second set of carbs. Used, of course. Ebay is a good source. I now own two sets--boat doesn't need to be out of service when they need cleaning--just switch sets. I paid $50 for a complete set for a 1990 225hp."
