1998 25 hp 2 stroke throttle cable

just bought used 98 25 hp runs

just bought used 98 25 hp runs fine on stand but when i hook up the throttle cable the rpms increace tried adjusting the end of the cable but runout of threads
 
the cable had a loose jam nut

the cable had a loose jam nut and ended threaded up into the remote control not leaving enough cable at the motor end to atache to the linkage.
