I have a 1984 25' Kencraft with a VOLVO diesel.My problem is that the mixing elbow is only 8" above the water line. There is not enough room under the deck for a lift muffler, so the exhaust & muffler will always be about 10" under water. I am worried about two things. 1)will it create too much back pressure to have the exhaust line full of water?
2) Will the flapper on the outside of the exhaust pipe prevent salt water ingestion by itself?
Th boat originally had a wet exhaust system, but, the owner converted it to a dry stack. If someone out there has an older KENCRAFT, maybe I could get some photos.
