Hey Everyone! Hope the weather

Hey Everyone! Hope the weather holds for the big weekend and that we can all get out on the water.

Okay so I bought my first starter boat a 2000 Bayliner and it came with a Mercruiser 135hp 3.0L engine with only 35 hours on it. Aside from adjusting the throttle cable everything has been running well until recentlty. When I had the engine muffed and hooked up to the garden hose I wanted to fire up the engine. When I did it fired up right away and geared into forward just fine.

When I put it in reverse it started making a grinding noise (which sounded like it was in the outdrive). It never did this last year and I am clueless as what it could be. When in reverse the prop does not turn and the engine starts sounding like it chokes out. Any ideas? I would really appreciate it.

First off thanks for the quick

First off thanks for the quick reply guys. I just got off work and just played around with the lower shift cable and it already seems to be working a little better. I think I have found my culprit.

So would this be something a newer boater could switch out?
