"I am a first time boat owner

"I am a first time boat owner this year. I just dropped in a 4.3L that I upgraded to the 4bbl intake, and 4m Rochester qudrajet carb into my Sea Ray. So now the timming is off alittle. I have everything I need to to do the timming, but I need to know how to put the motor in timming mode? It is a "1999" 4.3L with thunderbolt V ignition. What do you have to ground, or what is the proper way to time the motor. I will be putting the boat in the water on Saturday may 24th, and will do the final timming when it is in the water."

Use a jumper wire from "pu

Use a jumper wire from "purple wire with white tracer" to a good engine ground. start engine and set Initial Timing: 8° BTDC. unhook jumper wire and you are done. there is no final timming when it is in the water.
