"Have two new 5.7's with TKS carb system. Since new, two years ago, It takes cranking four to six times for five seconds each crank to start engines. Replaced carbs and everything else checks out: timing, no water in gas, etc ,etc. Merc gave three different starting instructions and still no starting, then they say this is the way it is! This can't be can it? Who would buy a boat that starts like this?

Any of you guys ever hear of something ike this?

TKS claims there is no need to

TKS claims there is no need to pump the throttle since it has a prime circuit. Manure; pump the throttle 1.5 times when cold and give it about 5% more throttle than idle speed when you hit the key.

joe;
Does this happen every day from a cold start? Or only when it has been layed up for a while? How about hot?
