how much hp is to much? lots o

how much hp is to much? lots of people are telling me the motor i am puting on my 16ft low v hall is way to much. it is a 90hp evinrude what do you all think? is it to much and how fast should it go?

"It depends on how the boat was made, construction material, etc. I had a 16ft Bonito with a 150 on it. But the important thing is it was rated for it. Not a good idea to go above the boat's rating."

"We had a 15' Crestliner with a mild V hull and an 85 Johnson (pretty much the same as the 90). It did great. Ran about 42 mph when it was new. 20 years of hard use slowed her down to about 40. It always felt very safe. As noted above, the rating is usually a good "safe" target."
